Pottery Evening Class

Mon Sep 21, 2009, 2:46 PM
I am feeling much more inspired, tonight I had joined a pottery class with a couple of friends. It's actually at the college where I did my A-levels so I feel at home here! It's every Monday for 10 week's so I shall be busy making different things.

I haven't had a proper play with clay since I did my Foundation in Art. Or really more-so in my 3D Art A-levels, as I only spent a short while in foundation on it)

It felt really good making art rather than being at the Computer and it was so relaxing.

We made pinch pots tonight, we made two of them and then joined them together and made a poppy seed head by cutting into it and making it more into the plant form.

The teacher gave us a demonstration of the wheel, she made it look so easy but I know it will probably be a different matter when I have a go!

I am keen though to try as surprisingly I never got to have a go at college!

So hopefully if they are any good, I shall upload a few pics of what I have made soon... will keep you posted.

I love the outdoors, nature and landscape drawing and painting.
I am hooked on taking lots of photos also, which I then paint from.

I enjoy drawing and painting Seascapes and Mountain scenes of places I have visited in both England and Ireland.

I probably get a bit too hung up on detail at times but I love getting a very realistic effect and lots of visual impact in my Landscape paintings.

I would like to be recognised as a Traditional Landscape artist as that is where my main interest lies.

I feel that often Landscape artists do not get as much recognition due to Photographers and digital artists being more popular on Deviant art.

I enjoy working with Oils and Watercolours and also occasionally pencils/ Watercolour pencils.

I have recently been fond of using Watercolours for my landscapes as it gives me a lot of freedom and quickness as drying times are better than of Oils.
